Running 2 graphics cards none sli or sli

I've just bought a GTX 460 currently running a gtx 260

I know with some cards you can run different setups I did a bit of a google search and found a bit of information but not 100% sure I understand.

I dont want to drag down the 460 to the 260 card specs. so can I run 2 cards without an SLI bridge. using the 260 as the physics card.

Would I have to run the 2 cards if possible as an SLI but my understanding with SLI they have to be the same make of card.

Would the 260 kill my 460's perfermance. Its not something I have ever done before and was wondering how a mixed setup would work.

I know my 460 can run with DX11 but not fussed about that if the 260 would give a performace boost in dx 9 and 10 games.

I think if I read it right that you can run 2 cards without a SLI bridge selecting card 2 "my 260" in the nvidia options and changing it so that its classed as a physics card

It is possible to run 2 card's not in sli.

To be honest though it will make a slight difference when it gives a performance boost but not as much as you will want.

All you need to do is load the drivers for the GTX 460, as they will also cover the GTX 260 and then in the drivers you just select the 260 for the physx.
