ISO's & FAT32

right then guys, need the thinking caps on,

broght a new family dvd player supports usb for playing films, now hopefully it should handle iso's but the more pressing is that it doesn't seem to support ntfs - only FAT16/32. now iirc FAT32 has a file limit of 4gb and most of the iso files i have are about 4.5, thus making it a no go to transfer any to my stick............................and i can't be arsed to burn everything and not worth ripping mine to an external drive if can't fool fat into seeing less than 4gb.

is there a way make this work or some software that can make it FAT friendly? would magicISO or powerISO do the job?

Re: ISO's & FAT32

Only thing I can suggest is rip the films to a more compressed format if the player will play them (xvid/divx)

It's one of the reasons as to why I got a networked DLNA blu-ray player as I can stream off the ethernet.

Re: ISO's & FAT32

you could try this

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cd...dvd_shrink.cfm

if you run the files through this and shrink them to a size less than 4gb then put the smaller files onto a memory stick it should be ok

would love a network player, but for the time used i couldn't justify the price of such a luxury.

I got a 2nd hand Sony bdp-370 in mint condition off ebay for £60 delivered, plays SD/HD streams from the server (running servio) and also connects to my love film account, iplayer and demand5..

Personally though instead of shrinking the DVD I'd rip to divx/xvid, quality won't be any different but the files will be half the size.

Agreed, if the player is ok at playing them that's the way i would go there are free out there but i won't recommend one because they usually have a load of crapware attached to them ,i have nero installed which does the job for me

Re: ISO's & FAT32

well shrink worked and transfered ok, but well it seems that i mis-read the specs it won't play straight from an iso, need to convert to either avi/mp4/divx/xvid.

marty, what version of nero you using? might have to have a look. i gave up after like verion 8 when it started to be come a bit bloated and over priced for what i need - and version 11 is pricey to, even if i upgrade it from the v10 essentials disc i have sat laying around.

I use nero 7 but my son has put this on his pc and works fine .Conversion speed depends on the spec of your pc

http://www.any-video-converter.com/p...or_video_free/

it's freeware so make sure you tick the "i don't want crapware" box during installation

just seen Kymmy's post ,that is probably better than the one i supplied ,i didn't realise it was on free offer
