Gutted after deleting photos from SD card. Possible to retrieve?

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate forum to post this, but last night I deleted the contents of my SD card, mistakenly believing it to be backed up elsewhere. About 200 photos from a holiday.

I've heard that software exists that allows you to somehow retrieve files, even if they've been deleted? Would this be possible with an SD card (which shows up as removable storage within my camera when I connect via USB)? I didn't format the drive, just deleted the contents via Windows Explorer when it was connected to my PC.

Any help really appreciated.

Re: Gutted after deleting photos from SD card. Possible to retrieve?

also you can use recoverymyfiles.com that will aloow you to scan the card to see if it finds them and see the condition of them, if it finds them and you want them back then you need to pay for it but its good to check if you can get them back before oaying for it thats why i like it

Folks, the OP was more interested in you all clicking the spammy Amazon referrer link in her (now deleted) sig than in recovering anything from an SD card.

The important thing is to not write anything else to the card or hard drive you are trying to recover so nothing gets overwritten.

Although the OP may have gone, the thread contains some useful suggestions for a problem many might face. So the thread remains active

Re: Gutted after deleting photos from SD card. Possible to retrieve?

Will any of these suggestions work with other file types? as my son has just deleted a load of music samples on Ableton. Could he just do a system restore?

---------- Post added at 20:53 ---------- Previous post was at 20:30 ----------

Just downloaded the piriform recovery tool as it seems to do what I want.

Re: Gutted after deleting photos from SD card. Possible to retrieve?

Recuva from Piriform is very good for a freebie and should find all types of files.

System Restore will only recover your system Windows and program settings, not data.
