Free Alternatives to MS Office and MS Outlook

Hi,

I've been asked by a friend to suggest and install a new PC for them. They currently have MS Office 2003 (I dont think they have kept the Office 2003 CD). They really need outlook and office. I have suggested they try Open Office but I'm not sure what alternatives there are for Outlook. It will need to import all their Outlook Contacts and emails and work with Itunes so they can sync their iphone and PC.

Mozilla Thunderbird is a good E-mail program. It's free.

I use thunderbird, lightning add on would add calender

As well as open office there's http://www.libreoffice.org/download which is more or less the same but was created when Sun was bought by Oracle, by a new team worried what Oracle may do with openoffice.

Re: Free Alternatives to MS Office and MS Outlook

Windows Live Mail is a good free alternative to Outlook with a very similar look and feel and Open Office is compatible with most Windows Office programs.

Re: Free Alternatives to MS Office and MS Outlook

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've made note of them and might even try some of them for myself.
Actually I might try and download/get hold of Office 2003 CD and try and get their product Key for their existing Office 2003.
