Re: sony pcg-fx502 parts

If it's on a board then they tend to only be sold as a main part (unless you get the old one off and check any manufacturer details on it)

You sure it's broken as they tend to either crack the socket case or a pin disconnect from the main board (dry joint) first and normally be glued the 2nd requires a decent soldering iron.

Yeah it's broken, the insulation around the centre connection has broken, I have a decent sodering iron or three and have been using them for over 30 years

Re: sony pcg-fx502 parts

I'll try my old sources but we were never sony certified (only compaq, HP, Toshiba, IBM, ACER and DELL) other than that you could try to see if there's an old system board (or power board if seperate) on ebay you can grab a socket off.

Re: sony pcg-fx502 parts

For a laptop part that's actually cheap unless it's 10+ years old..

You could remove the old one and look in the RS or farnell catalogue for a pin layout replacement.. Then just buy a socket and plug..

Re: sony pcg-fx502 parts

Most laptop connectors are made by JST. You may have some luck Googling them for a smaller quantity than the normal 1000 Min order quantity from RS components/Farnell CPC etc.
