Re: Firefox 4 Beta 1

What's everyones thoughts on the new Firefox skin and tabs on top seeing it has been out a while now?

I've hated the old default skin for years and finally i can use this as i'm loving it.

Re: Firefox 4 Beta 1

I had to show the menubar (I put bookmarks on it, and I do use it) but I do love the new interface and everything about it seems to be much more sleek. I didn't think firefox could get much better; but it has.

Re: Firefox 4 Beta 1

Hi
I've got Firefox 4 beta installed (as well as v3.6.8) with Ubuntu.
They haven't changed the interface yet for the Linux version. It still looks the same.

Re: Firefox 4 Beta 1

Hi
One of the improvements with Firefox 4 is the ability to handle the new WebM format.
It's true.
Firefox 4.0 Beta 2 will play these files and Firefox 3.6.8 won't.

With Firefox use File > Open File...
There's a sample file attached to try.

These files are also playable with the current version of VLC media player.
I think that these files are also supported with Opera and Chrome browsers too.

This is Firefox 4

And this is VLC

---------- Post added at 17:07 ---------- Previous post was at 16:59 ----------

I can't upload the sample file.
They are available to download from here:-http://www.webmfiles.org/demo-files/

Re: Firefox 4 Beta 1

Firefox 4 beta 3 is now available, ,maybe this thread could be renamed and a link provided on the first post?

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/beta/

This build seems faster than the last 1 for me, not that it was slow before though.

Agree with you SnoopZ, one thing i dislike and i`m not sure anything can be done about it is the top is to opaque and you can see your desktop items through it (looks worse with tabs on top). No biggy just a minor dislike...

Also AddBlock Plus isn`t working in this release yet (Vladimir is on hols), you can use a workaround but i can wait/put up with adds for a bit

Re: [update] Firefox 4 Beta 3

I've not tried blocking Ads on new sites but on sites i already had blocked are still blocked.

I think tabs ontop is looks awesome in Firefox and i can't see myself having them below ever again.

Re: [update] Firefox 4 Beta 3

I've never once had an issue with firefox 4 on either of my pcs, maybe it was a dodgy plugin you have?

Was this on heavy flash pages alferret? Stupid flash

There does seem to be a slight issue affecting some people on certain sites, iv`e had it happen a couple of times but it normally recovered pretty quick...

I think the browser market has really taken off lately and all the major players seem to be upping their game, even the new Internet Explorer 9 which Beta`s in September looks to be a vast improvement.

Re: [update] Firefox 4 Beta 3

With Firefox 4 Beta 4 being released on Monday here`s a cool feature that is in the next release. It`s called Tab Sets which basically is a way of grouping your open tabs into sections/categories so you can just access the ones you wan`t/need and don`t have to have all the tabs showing at the same time.

In the picture i had 3 tabs open for Neowin, 3 for cable forum and 2 which where looking at monitors. If you click on one of the tab sets just that set of tabs comes. It`s a pretty nifty feature which i can see being useful if your looking at several different things at once.

If you try the next Beta give it a whirl
