Re: New PC help

Are there updated drivers available from the Lexmark website? Windows 7 should just install its own drivers really without you needing to install the software that came with it

Re: New PC help

It loaded it all via W7 and all works just has error message as detailed above about needing NET framework etc.

Another issue I have is this and it is driving me mad! Won't remember any login details!

Banking sites, this site etc will not remember my username and password.

They always used to on my old Dell XP PC.

Is this the McAfee anti virus or windows 7 and is there anyway round it?

Thanks

Re: New PC help

By default a lot of things aren't installed as standard in Windows 7. Much of that can be blamed at anti competition rules from the EU. Thus you don't have a mail client or even Internet Explorer, unless those have been installed by your computer provider. Yo might even have problems with websites using java script, flash or where you need to read a .pdf (adobe) file.

.Net Framework 2 should have been preinstalled in Windows 7.

Id be suspicious of security settings in your browser if passwords will not be remembered. However that is a good thing. If you are hacked there would be a file containing those passwords that the hacker would target. No retention, nothing to hack

Re: New PC help

Is there a link to MS .NET Framework Version 2.0 anywhere as I looked on MS and couldn't find.

I wonder why I haven't got it on my W7? Only the printer icon brings up the message saying I need it.

---------- Post added at 06:42 ---------- Previous post was at 06:29 ----------

My C drive has progam files & program files (x86). They both have the same stuff in itunes, etc, but the x86 one has a MS NET folder in it.

I found a 2.0 redistrbute package on MS site and it said unable to download as not supported by W7 64 bit. Yet that was called x86 too.

Any ideas what is going on and why there are 2 program files?

Thanks

Re: New PC help

Run windows update and you will see the net.framework in the list, the 3.5 one is the latest so that would be my choice, that will sort your problem.

Re: New PC help

When I run windows update it isn't in the list. Is that becuase it is already installed nad it is just a problem with the Lexmark software not finding it?

Thanks again
