IE 9 Beta (merged)
The chart above shows the relative performance of different browsers on the same machine running the SunSpider test.
Many within the tech world are expecting Microsoft to announce a beta version of Internet Explorer 9 at the upcoming MIX 2010 conference. While nothing is yet confirmed by Microsoft, the new version of the popular browser is expected to boast improved support for open web standards.

So will IE 9.0 be available on XP, or will we be stuck on 8.x?

re: IE 9 Beta (merged)
Well they're bound to withdraw support for older operating systems sometime and XP is nearly 10 years old after all

XP wont be supported, ever.
You'll need to upgrade to atleast Vista.

Vista is not that bad now with the service packs. I find it is still slow to get going when you first switch on but once everything is loaded it works fast

Ah just another buggy Mircro*rap software festering it way into our life to create more problems while surfing the net. No browser is perfect but hasn't microsoft got the message the there still a few issues that need sorting before hand in IE8/7 to make sure there browser more up-to-date - not updating the software to level with the others or less.
Sorry to say open software is future not closed software, as with outlook etc They wonder why they got so many problems in the first place Only why mircosoft pushes IE8 it for the poorer coded web sites to work where as others like firefox, Oprea, Chrome do require a much higher standard's, so lowering the written code in web pages (requiring/required to work with a browser), other wise than that just don't go no-where near micro*rap browser with a iron pole.
This just a widely seen view point on the state of the above company in todays world + little of my own.

I almost feel ashamed to say this, because I readily acknowledge that the initial release of Vista was one of the most god-awful pieces of cackware I've ever had the misfortune to use, but I think a fully-patched Vista is actually a pretty good OS. IIRC the Windows 7 kernel is Vista's with stuff added... I suspect the added bits are what would have gone into Vista SP3

Actually they probably aren't
Service Packs are usually bug fix roll ups only. The only exception to this was XP SP2 which had to rewrite large parts of the OS to make it more secure than it was
Because of this one off everyone expects new features to be added with a SP release.
