Windows 7 Promotion offer & Comet

Hi,

I ordered, and Comet Direct took payment, the Windows 7 Promotion offer from Comet on 16th July for delivery 5th November. The order was confirmed.

Since then I have heard nothing from Comet, I chased them a month ago, & Head Office assured me that I would get a copy at that price but no delivery date available (blaming Microsoft).

They appear to have copies of Windows 7 available on their web site, so MS are supplying them or Comet are not being honest on the site.

I know that this was a promotional offer, but surely it does not differ from the reatill version on the site.

Has anyone got Windows 7 at the promotional price from Comet?

I shall be writing to then with my thoughts this weekend.

I should think everyone would have had it by now from various retailers. I got mine from PCworld for Â£44.99 2 days before the release date and that is the FULL version seeing the E version was scrapped.

If you have an order number then keep chasing it because you should have got it several weeks ago, if you don't have any proof of an order then i'm not sure what you should do.

Yes, I do have the order number and confirmation e-mail.

Have you checked credit card to see if the payment was taken? If you have the order number then you shouldn't have a problem.

Yes, they took payment at the time of ordering, claiming that all advance orders have to be paid at time of ordering.

If PC World can fulfill their orders I see no reason why Comet cannot - they claim to have stock for new orders, albeit at the full price ( 3x promotional price!!)

I bought one copy from Comet. Like PC World it turned up a day or two early.

Did you get confirmation email when you ordered?

Yes, as stated above, order confirmation e-mail received and payment taken. They say that they are waiting for MS to deliver, "Your order will be delivered", or so they claimed a month ago.

So they have delivered to at least one person, wonder what the problem is, order tracking still says order being processed.

I ordered on 16th July, when did you order?

18th July here.

Maybe you should get your CC company involved? If all else fails you can buy an upgrade pack for about 63 quid and do a clean install from that.

Don't want to get CC company involved, I'm not looking for a refund, I just want the goods I ordered at the price I paid.

I have sent them a letter giving them 14 days to supply, their excuse that they are waiting for Microsoft does not hold water. My contract is with Comet, and they are selling Win7 on their website, so they do not have a supply problem.

You will get it eventually, but i think it's a huge cock up on their part. I wouldn't be surprised if they try and send you the upgrade version!

Looks as though my letter has jolted them into life. Got a phone call at lunch time, should get my copy tomorrow!

You can do a clean install from the upgrade disk, just a bit more trouble.

Yes you can but hes paid for the full version so i hope they send him that.
