Why am I getting this? OS 10.6.2

I've only had it for a couple of days, I can't find what programme is doing it.
Is it part of a preinstalled programme that I've set off somehow?
It's getting very annoying. It's not a bug is it?

S'alright, I think I've done it now.
I had installed Little Snitch, and thought that dragging the app into trash would remove it. But it needed to be uninstalled. So I downloaded the programme again, and when I went to run it it said it was already installed, so all I had to do was uninstall.
One happy bunny now

Re: Why am I getting this? OS 10.6.2

It's an app that monitors outgoing internet connection attempts on your Mac, not dissimilar to what ZoneAlarm does on a PC (except it's not a full-on software firewall, the Mac has a built-in one for managing inbound connections). And no, I'd never heard of it either.

Relax Wayne, there is tonnes of stuff for the Mac, you can't expect to know about all of it in five minutes.

Saying that... I don't know how to Uninstall an App from my Mac... I thought just moving the app to the trash removed it??

That is how you do remove them if they don't come with an uninstaller app, but there will be asscoiciated files still left on your CD, ie:- preference files and so on.

There are some free apps such as AppCleaner that will do a good job of removing no longer needed apps, there is a paid one, AppZapper, myself I use CleanApp which is a paid one but it is not that expensive and does more than just removed the app and all other files associated with it.

Depending on what the app does, and especially if it's set to auto-load on boot, it can actually still run from inside the trash folder. To completely eradicate it you need to empty the trash afterwards. As j52c has said, this will not remove all traces from your system, as there may be pref files left hanging around elsewhere, but there are apps that can tidy that sort of stuff for you. Although once you know where to go looking for preference files on your Mac they're easy enough to spot and trash manually.

Thanks guys, I'm looking into the software utils that will help me remove these preference files. I'm still a relative Mac Newbie

Dont forget that you have Apple's online support forums, plus the support section. You also have http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/ for loads of help, plus you have here as well.

Re: Why am I getting this? OS 10.6.2

I've started to use AppCleaner, and it seems to be working very well.
