Re: New CPU options?
The 945P chipset supports Core 2 Duo CPUs, that would be your best bet.

Re: New CPU options?
Core2Duo's are great CPU's, so go for one of those. I run an E6750 @ 2.66ghz overclocked to 3.4GHz no problem They're very easy to overclock CPU's, and I'm still on the stock cooler too.

Re: New CPU options?
Not worth it going from a 3.0ghz cpu to a 3.06ghz you might aswell buy a better cooler for your current cpu and overclock it you may be able to get it to nearly 4.0ghz, and all it will have cost you is anything from £15 - £30.

Re: New CPU options?
Ive never overclocked this system before, in fact I've not over clocked anything since back in the early Pentium days through bios.
Whats the best way to go about overclocking my current CPU? Thanks

Re: New CPU options?
check temps slacken Ram timings and speed, bump FSB and raise vcore( a little at a time) once you hit an optimum speed ie cpu passes 8 hours prime95 without crashing or getting to hot try raising your ram speed and vdimm voltage and tightening timings.
There are a lot of other settings but the multiplier on the D cpus are low unless you were lucky enough to get an 805 so do not expect miracles

Re: New CPU options?
no just being honest. You said and I quote
Quote:

|
so I assume that you know how to overclock using bios settings so I give instructions on how to overclock using bios settings
You then post and appear to not have a clue what I am on about so the safest thing for you is leave it alone.
If you had experience of overclocking you would have known some of what I was saying you didnt even know I was answering your question.
