Windows Vista low space
I wonder if anyone can help me.
In the My Computer where the drives are listed if the space on one of my partitions drops below around 9GB it turns red to say its low on space, i dont consider 9GB low on some of my drives.
Is there anyway of changing the ammount of space this shows as low?
Thanks

Re: Windows Vista low space
These days 9GB is pretty low, simply installing a game could eat that up easily

Re: Windows Vista low space
I can find information for completely disabling the warnings, but none for changing the disk space that triggers it - sorry.

Re: Windows Vista low space
I am guessing, but I would have thought the 9gb is relative. 9Gb out of 10gb is quite good, 9Gb out of 1Tb is time to worry.

Re: Windows Vista low space
Why not go all the way back to Windows 98 while you're at it?

Re: Windows Vista low space
you could always reclaim you system restore points and make sure all your clean ups are done regularly. You do not say how big your hdd is ( you say one of your partitions how big is it and can you reclaim some space) I always keep 20% of total drive space empty an over filled drive is an inefficient drive

Re: Windows Vista low space
You could use vssadmin to limit the ammount of space that Vista uses for system restore

Re: Windows Vista low space
Go into your recycle bins properties too and change the size of your "bin", I think its set to about 5% of the size of your drive so if you've got a 300gig drive you're looking at around 15gig set aside for recycled stuff.

Re: Windows Vista low space
I think the last few posts missed the point. In my opinion the OP was about changing the amount of space that is required to trigger the low disk space warning and not about reclaiming lost gigabytes.
