This is where a server comes in handy. I run a Windows Home Server that automatically backs up my PC every day.
So I could just nuke the hard drive this morning without thinking twice - although copying everything back onto the drive may take a while!

Not in my experience but just leave a note on your door and most companies normally do.

Nope, but then I think it is supposed to be delivered as an update at install (before you get to the desktop). Guess they haven't got around to including it yet

it's no longer included, we now get the same version of windows 7 that the rest of the world do (which includes IE8).

Re: [MERGED] The Windows 7 Thread
The Browser Ballot is supposed to be included. It was the alternative Microsoft came up with instead of stripping IE from Windows 7

Re: [MERGED] The Windows 7 Thread
Got my free copy from MS/HouseParty nearly 2 weeks ago, very pleased as it saved me £180-200.
Here's some pics of what I got:

Re: [MERGED] The Windows 7 Thread
Have a look here http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/win...in-europe.aspx at the 2nd from last paragraph (the last one with bold text in the main dialog)
Quote:

For customers who have already pre-ordered the full version of Windows 7 E in the EU – either as part of special pre-order offers or otherwise – they will receive full versions of Windows 7 that include Internet Explorer 8. These customers, and any other customer who pre-orders Windows 7 before upgrade versions are available on September 1, will still be able to get upgrade pricing for Windows 7 full versions.

I tried Windows Beta 7 but support for one of my SATA controllers has been dropped, a typical problem with proprietary drivers as your hardware gets a few years old, no problem though as the free driver in Linux works better than the original XP driver and I can run the two remaining Windows applications I need in Wine anyway.
