Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 Now Available for Testing

I can't find another post so here's a link to a write-up about Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 that was released yesterday.

Beta 2 includes :-

Private Browsing Mode, tab tearing, and the speedy TraceMonkey Javascript engine turned on by default, the release notes list what else you get:

* This beta is now available in 54 languages.
* Added functions to make it easy to clear recent history by time as well as remove all traces of a website.
* New support for web worker threads.
* Improvements to the Gecko layout engine, including speculative parsing for faster content rendering.
* Removed the new tab-switching behavior based on feedback from users
* Support for new web technologies such as the <video> and <audio> elements, the W3C Geolocation API, JavaScript query selectors, CSS 2.1 and 3 properties, SVG transforms and offline applications.

Are your addons working? I noticed the bit about them probably not working with this Beta 2 version.

ntrepid testers, be warned: most of your extensions will probably not work with beta 2, unless you use an about:config trick to force compatibility.

....and I'm a scaredy cat about trying these things. I just let you guys have the fun of testing and I'll only install when you lot give the OK.

Jo, CallingID and CallingID Link Advisor not working. All my other add-ons appear to be OK.

Jo I have add-ons Adblock Plus, CustomiseGoogle, TinyUrl creator, United States English Dictionary, and Yahoo Toolbar. Does this help?

New hotmail doesn't like 3.1

Oooooh boolean. Now there's a scary place. I think I went into that territory to do something about pipe laying or something like that ? Doesn't sound right but it was definitely something that reminded me of plumbing. LOL.

@ Tinky. Iv'e just had a read about CallingID Link Advisor and realised that I use WOT which does a similar job and looks pretty.

Thanks for that Jo, I now have the two, AdBlock and WOT (belt and braces). I used to have a very good site advisor thingy, but I can't remember if it was with Firefox or IE. A was a little box at the end of the the chosen site which turned to red if not recommended/no good or green if OK. Don't know where that disappeared to.

Don't think so cimt, if I googled and got a list of sites, each site had it's own box at the end of the title. But there again you could be right, I used to have a McAfee firewall.

Before I download it, install it, break it then call on Zing to repair my whole system, are there any major benefits to it over the current version?

Just returned from a bit of googling, and that WOT add-on has the same effect as the little boxes I was talking about. Thanks for that Jo!
