Downgrade Office 2007 to Office 2003

Afternoon,

Anybody been through this scenario:

Using Excel 2007 to modify a shared workbook with other users - some Office 2007 and some Office 2003.

Having some compatibility issues so Mr customer wants to downgrade the Office 2007 to Office 2003 which I believe they are legally entitled to do with Microsoft.

But we need to get the new keys generated from MS in order to install as Office 2003 - anybody tried this??

Cheers

Lee

You can download a fix from microsoft which allows Office 2003 to read Office 2007's saved files.

I wish it was as simple as that! The customer has a rather complicated workbook which their staff update which both 2003 and 2007 and 2007 is causing issues.

They have the 2003 media and it's key?
Uninstall the vile 2007 and install a fresh 2003 then, or have I missed something? (probably)

Well - yeah sort of - because that media and key have been used - not worried about the media being used obviously, but what about the key?

That's been used to install Office 2003 on the original PC it was intended for and will require activation upon installation as a Office 2007 replacement.

Or am I reading too much into it! Just want to keep it correctly licensed that's all!

Re: Downgrade Office 2007 to Office 2003

From reading the link from JediMaster, they only have downgrade rights if they have a volume licence. If they have a Volume Licence Key (VLK), there shouldn't be an issue using it on multiple PCs. If it is a 'retail' package, technically they don't have downgrade rights anyway.

Re: Downgrade Office 2007 to Office 2003

I believe the original Office 2003 was an OEM - to be sold with a <manufacturers> computer only / BIOS locked version.

The Office 2007 was a manufacturer installed trial version and fully activated with one on the product ID cards / licence.
