Re: rename multiple files at once

Windows can do a basic sequential rename

for example if you have multiple files all in the correct order then highlight them all, right click on the first file and sleelct rename, put in the name but leave out the track number, XP should rename all the files to the same name and suffix them all with (1), (2), (3)...etc
As the 2nd file gets the (1) then best to put a dummy file in front.. Try it on a copy of the directory and you'll see what I mean.

Apart from that it is a case of using a 3rd party utility if you want a proper rename..

Re: rename multiple files at once

You want to rename the files so they apear on your Ipod as "Artist - Track 01" or to appear in your Desktop folder??

If you want to edit the MP3 Tags (to show on your Ipod Screen), I use http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ & it can search Amazon or other Databases for the Album (or Manually edit 1 by 1).

If you want to edit the File name from track01.mp3 to anything else, this wont affect the Ipod screen. But you can try looking at these FREE tools on Snapfiles http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/sy...ilerename.html I use BulkRenamer Utility http://www.snapfiles.com/get/bulkrename.html (for editing Photo's off Digital Camera & Vids)
