Outlook Express

Hi guys recently I have been having problems running outlook express, on the times it does open up it normaly comes up with an error message stating the the server is not responding within 30 seconds - yet the internet through firefox is fine.
Does any one have any suggestions as to what the problem could be or is there a downloadable update?
Thanks

Re: Outlook Express

when was the last email you got?
who u using for ur emails?

perhaps you got an email from them saying "heh in 2 months we are changing our mail server you need to update your mail client"

or....perhaps the mail server is down ? check out the status page of who ever provides you with email

basically do the simple stuff to look into the problem and then post back.

Re: Outlook Express

Outlook express and microsoft outlook has always this kind of problem even though the settings is correct... And most of the times, the only fix is by reinstalling the software itself..

Re: Outlook Express

try disabling the antivirus software once because it may be causing the problem. If you have PC guard, open it >>click on antivirus at the left hand top corner>then click on prefrences>Untick the option "Scan incoming mails and attachments" and then click ok. It should resolve the issue.

Quite common slow connections or when the mail server is down
There was a notice recently that the VM mail servers were going to be down for maintenance
It can also be caused if your antivirus software uses a proxy and that proxy also goes offline

The best solution would be to setup another account with a free ISP, and then monitor from there
If both become unavailable, then you know its either the connection or proxy
If only one is unavailable, then you know it is that specific provider

I have six accounts on Outlook Express and get this quite often, and if they all come up as failed then I know its VM

Re: Outlook Express

have you tried any other software for your emails ?
i use thunderbird and as you are already using Firefox. You may like how easy it is to set-up and use.
this is not the answer to your problem, just a suggestion
