is this worth the upgrade
Hi,
I am looking to upgrade my PC soon and seen a bundle on novatech and would like to know, if it be worth the upgrade and will it be as good as what I got
I currently have
478 3.2Ghz HT CPU with 1GB DDR ram
I have seen
Intel Dual Core E2220 2 x 2.4Ghz with 2GB 667 DDR2 ram
So is it worth the upgrade and will it be as good as what I already have ?

Re: is this worth the upgrade
Hi,
The graphic card will not fit as it is AGP, but the motherboard comes with onboard, which should be fine to start with, or I may get a cheap graphic card.

Thats much better I agree with David.
If you are not a gamer then I would just stick to onboard graphics. Then upgrade if and when you feel it is needed.

Re: is this worth the upgrade
Hi,
The main reason is the heatsink has come off the motherboard sometime ago and I have been using a fan to cool the board.
The other reasons are: sometimes the system slow right down and get message about lack of ram, so I need more ram which I known for awhile now, and the system seems to be coming a little bit unstable (example lock ups) which I think could be down to the heatsink coming off.

Re: is this worth the upgrade
The E2200 is a beautiful little chip.
What mobo are you going for?
Either way you should see a fairly drastic increase in performance over that abomination of a pentium d and 1GB of RAM.

Re: is this worth the upgrade
If you are confident to put on the CPU and heatsink yourself you will save a fair bit buying the bits separately, even the same ones in the bundles.

Re: is this worth the upgrade
Asus do on board gfx possibly 6150 gpu or similar
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...%20Motherboard this has the Intel 3100 gpu which for what it is is not bad.I would not normally go for Intel onboard GFX however the 3100 is meant to be ok
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...%20Motherboard cheap and cheerfull Gigabyte with 7100 gfx

Re: is this worth the upgrade
If a board has onborad video please make sure that it's also got a PCI-E (x16) port, otherwise you won;t be able to update the video in the future...

Re: is this worth the upgrade
Hi,
Novatech said the motherboard is: Foxconn G9657MA-8KS2H
Is this any good or am I best of going for separates, either way is fine with me ?
Thanks David for the links to those boards at a quick look I may go for something like the Gigabyte you linked to
