Speed of Connection
hey guys, i tried googling it but i came to a dead end.
the thing is ive got an old via rhine II ethernet adaptor and im on 20mb, but the thing is the connection status icon with the 2 computer screens on the bottom right of the taskbar, show my connection as 100mb. i know it shows 100mb as the speed my ethernet can handle but im wondering is there any way of that little icon showing what my real speed is, eg 19mb,20mb,21 etc
back in my old bt days, i was connected by usb and it used to show the speed but thats maybe because it was via usb and now im on ethernet. any help?
Nope the little icon only shows the ethernet sync rate between you modem/router to your pc. If you click the speed test link at the top of this page that should give you and idea of your actual broadband speed .

Re: Speed of Connection
yh im sorry if i confused you but i hate doing speed tests all the time, is there any way of actually getting the icon to show my actual internet speed instead of the 100mb?
If you install something like DU Meter and hover your mouse over it's icon in your taskbar, you'll see a tiny balloon tip window showing your current up- and download speeds.
Unfortunately, as it's a pop-up, I can't find a way to do a screen grab with it showing.
