DVD Drive not showing empty.

If I remove a game disk for instance from the DVD Drive it still shows as if it is still in there . If I put in a blank disk in the drive it will still show as if the game is still in the drive .
This happens on both drives, but has only started over the last month.I have updated the firmware on both drives and no difference.

Re: DVD Drive not showing empty.

What happens if you right click the drive and select Eject? Does this make Windows 'Catch Up'?

Have you disabled AutoRun? Try re-enabling it and rebooting:

Quote:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdrom

Here you can disable or enable automatically running your CD. Change the value of Autorun to 0 for disable and change the value to 1 for enable. At the end restart your computer for this change.
If this works but you don't want AutoRun enabled, disable it via GPEDIT.MSC (Start | Run)

Computer Configuration : Administrative Templates : System : Turn AutoPlay off

Note I just checked the Group Policy setting on Vista and it is:

Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | AutoPlay Policies
