Relock an Iphone
Hi
Not sure if this is in the correct place but anyways!!!
I am thinking about buying a used 1st gen iphone as i am stuck in my o2 contract for another 10 months. Now one has just come on the market but it is unlocked. What i would like to do is relock it and then put the iphone 2 software on it and transfer my contract to an iphone plan.
Now i have spoken to o2 and they have already said it is possible for me to move on a iphone price plan but i am not sure if i will be able to reset the iphone.
Anyone have any ideas!!
Cheers

Why do you need to lock it?

Re: Relock an Iphone
Dont quote me on this, but surely all you need to do to re-lock it is to update it?

Not if it was bricked though modification of the firmwire which voids the warranty. Although Apple stores have been known to repair it anyway but they are under no obligation too, so be careful.

I did not have a unlocked iPhone but here are some accounts of people who did and their results:

I can categorically stated that upgrading to 2.0 RELOCKS and jails the phone as most people expected. Meaning, no service and the ability to use any function except to make an emergency call only.
|
So it seems it will relock it. Although it's unclear if it will also brick it, my guess from what I have read so far is no, it wont, it will just lock it but don't quote me on that since I do not have personal experience of this.
You will need to have a iPhone contact by the way, the free data needs the iPhone contacts from O2. If you use your old sim then it may not work and if it does, you will be paying per MB which racks up quickly on the iPhone.
