Re: connect HP 530 to TV

If you want the picture to be displayed on your TV, your TV will need a VGA input. USB/RS232 will not work.

Re: connect HP 530 to TV

As far as I can see that model does not have a built in 'TV Out' facility, so the only way to get an external display would be to a computer monitor using the VGA out socket, or you can get cables which connect the VGA out on the lappy to s-video or composite on the TV.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VGA-TO-TV-RCA-...d=p3286.c0.m14

but you will have to have a separate lead for the sound.

- not sure if you really mean RS232 port on the TV? That is quite an old connector used for e.g. serial devices such as mice, before PS2 connectors or USB.

Re: connect HP 530 to TV

what make and model tv is it?
most new tv's ie lcd/plasma will have a vga connection on it which you would use, then there should be a button on the laptop that you, can press and that will send the display to the tv by pressing fn+? key.

Re: connect HP 530 to TV

ok the d-sub port is a vga and would more than likely be labled pc or pc-vga on the back of the tv.
the fn key is the function key and will probably be in blue letters in between the left, ctrl and windows icon key you press and, hold that down then another key but not sure which one.

as for the audio that will be done via a 3.5mm jack (male) to 3.5mm jack (male), or via a 3.5mm (male) to 2x phono 1 red connection (male) 1 white connection (male).

Re: connect HP 530 to TV

The the laptop has a VGA out (and most would do as this is quite a normal output port to have) and the TV has a VGA input - just buy a male - male 15pin VGA cable and hey presto - laptop display on the TV.

Note: You may have to select the external monitor on the laptop to get the external display - normally a Fn key and F2 / F3 - look fo the monitor symbol on the function key!
