Keyboard play key won't play ball

I've got a Microsoft Reclusa keyboard, and very nice it is too.
Anyway, when I first got it, I could just hit the MediaPlayer key, then the Play key, and it would open MediaPlayer and start playing whatever was last in the Now Playing list.

Something's changed and it no longer does this.
Instead when I hit the MediaPlayer key, it starts MediaPlayer in the Library, and the Play key will only work after I've clicked on the play button in MediaPlayer.

Any ideas on what settings could have been changed?

Media Player is now starting the media library. Start looking in options for it, the start-up tab is in there somewhere. Change it back, and it will work.

Caught me once

Anyway, have checked through the options and can't find anything to change what WMP should start with

Ah found if you add /Task:NowPlaying to the shortcut, it starts in now playing, but the play button isn't highlighted so my play key won't work.

Having fun now trying to re-assign shortcuts/commands to the keyboard, it doesn't want to take notice of them. Grrr bloody M$

Sorted.
My WMP key now calls a shortcut with the /Task:NowPlaying command, then my email key (which otherwise I'd never use) is reconfigured to send 5 tabs and then space bar (yes, I know if you start WMP it's 6 tabs to the play button, but hey, 5 works in the macro, just have to wait a second or two after WMP starts otherwise it doesn't work at all). This then leaves my play key as it's default setting of Play/Pause and works properly

Re: Keyboard play key won't play ball

try re-installing the drivers and launch manager for the keyboard.
all media keys need a launch manager.
have there been any driver updates for your keyboard ?
maybe you have two media players and they are clashing/conflict.
check your error log/event log files the answer could be in there.if you have an idea what date/time when it all changed.
