HP Laserjet 4100n
Does anyone have experience of these mono lasers?
Would this be a suitable workhorse for a small office workgroup (6-8 workstations). They seem to be available at quite a good price but I've no experience of these HP lasers and wonder about the lifespan and build quality.
tia.

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
The 4100 series is a workgroup class laser printer so it can easily handle 20 - 30 people. 6-8 workstations would be fine.
The "n" means is has a NIC (JetDirect) built in already.
I think the 4100 is an older model now and may have been replaced, but still, it's a great printer.
Build quality is excellent with HP printers.

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
We've got a LaserJet 4050 which is great. Never had to change the toner and we've had it for a couple of years now. Build quality is good and I reckon it will last us for a long time yet.

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
I've found the 4000 series to be very reliable.
They are expected to need a maintenance kit every few years - which includes new fuser and pick up rollers. Not sure if that would be covered in an extended warranty or not.
Is it a refurb as they are discontinued?

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
We have got several of them where I work, they are good printers and go strong but are old now. If its just a few people using look at something like the 1230n which has now been replaced with a P2015n, alot smaller and faster.
To be honest any of the HP printers are good, that is all we buy and its all I recommend. You wont have any issues with the 4100n apart from its size compared to new printers.

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
My thanks to you all who replied. I can get a 4100n for £75 brand-new. That seems like a pretty good deal to me for that grade of machine.
It may be old kit but I do tend to suspect the build quality on a lot of recent printers is not what it used to be.
Decisions, decisions..

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
I've had good experiences with HP - still using a Laserjet 4P, now approaching it's 13th birthday...
My office seems to exclusively use them too now, and had no problems.

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
The older printers are better compared to the newer HP's. The new ones have plastic gears and just pulling paper out shreds these if you are not careful. We have had at least 5 with gears shredded.

Re: HP Laserjet 4100n
I've had a Brother laser for the last 5 years, I've used it everyday and it's still on it's first toner.
