Red face Flash SWF Editing

Hi Yall,

I have a template here thats a Flash menu. SWF file. I have opened it in Swish max and I can see the Menu buttons, although they arent actually buttons as you would think, it is a background image which has lightening in flash, written on the image is text, IE; Home, Links, E mail, FAQ etc. I don't want these for my site, I want to add my own.

I have located the Menu Image but I cant edit it unless I can get it into Photoshop, It is a SWF file as well, theres no export to Jpeg option, I presume this is the correct way to do it?

Is there any way I can open this in an art program, or save the menu image as a format that I can edit it? Or am I totally up the creek without a paddle?

Any help appreciated here, totally lost

Re: Flash SWF Editing

Have you the rights to edit the SWF file for your own use?
You might find legally you are not allowed to.
Generally with compiled stuff, if you are legally allowed to alter it, you will be given the source. Maybe speak to who you got the 'template' from and ask for he source?

Are you not better starting from blank and creating one as you like?

Re: Flash SWF Editing

I may have no choice, i got the templates off a friend, as far as i can tell you are allowed to use them if you keep the link at the bottom so you can edit it. But its just that the image on the background has text written in it, so its not easily editable unless i get it in photoshop, but i cant do that with the swf file
