Computer freezing

While trying to add a few video clips to another clip in windows movie maker it gets to about 32% and my pc just freezes.

I have to manually turn it off. But after this happens and I turn it back on the monitor does not come on straight away and it does not beep as it should. After 5 or so minutes it boots up as normal.

Highly annoying.

Any suggestions?

PC stats are

2.40 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache
250.05 Gigabytes Hard drive
2048 Mb DDR 3200 ram
RADEON X800 Series 256mb
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (This was happening before I installed SP3)

Re: Computer freezing

looks as if your pc is overheating m8 thats why it don't come on straight away needs to cool down

omg dude just realised x800 i ahd the exact same card and i used to get that shutdown overheating

my advise download hwmonitor from cpuid

monitor temps

those cards run very hot i mean hot they can easily bump the temp inside the case to a poin were it shutsdown to prevent damage

If these videos are large then the freezing will be caused by your memory reaching its limit.

Press ctrl alt & del when you have movie maker open again with all the videos bar the last one when it freezes and i bet yu that your memory has hit its limit.
