It sounds like, as someone already said, that you're trying to display a res that the problem monitor cant handle.
As someone else has already said (you are listening to advice being given and acting on it, aren't you?) connect to the monitor you know works, set the res & refresh rate low, reconnect the dodgy monitor & if it works you know that was your problem.

Ive tried that, my LCD monitor still dont come on. Once i conncet the cable to my pc monitor the power light on my lcd monitor goes off.

Re: Video Input
ok let me get this straight it works on your on other monitors but not your lcd one have you ever, thought of trying the monitor on another comp just to check that as it might be shorting itself out through the video ports. also what is the make/model of your graphics card so we can see if we can find a replacement for you.

Re: Video Input
It still sounds as if the monitor can't handle the resolution your trying to display, or the monitor is broken.
If you plug the monitor in with the PC powered off, and then boot it up, does the monitor do anything?
When was the last time the monitor worked, and on what PC?
IMHO, people suggesting you get a new graphics card are being a touch premature, you need to establish if the monitor is in working order first. If you pc works fine with a different monitor(and the different monior can be made to display a decent resolution/colour depth/reresh rate), then I seriously doubt that it's the graphics card.
The guy in the computer shop's advice is crap, he's hoping that your gonna buy a new card from him, at which point he can offer to install it for you. Just bear in mind most PC shop staff are salesman first, technicians second.
BTW, while most monitors will display a green indicator for a good signal, and go to amber/orange/yellow for no signal or one that's out of range, some that i've seen will give the impression of a complete power down.

Yes, and by the sounds of it, your PC works with any other monitor, just not that one.

If you do the above test it will prove if its the monitor unable to handle the resolution or not, as in theory the PC's POST(power on self test) should be in a really low resoution.

I'll put my question another way: Did it stop working overnight, or have you not used it for some time?
What's the make and model of the monitor, have you googled to see if it's got a "reset to factory settings" option.
