Nasa's new computer is bigger than yours..
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/05/06/sgi_moon_nasa/
Processors: Multiple quad core Xeons (20480 cores altogether)
Memory: 20800 Gig
Hdd: 450 Terrabytes.
Admittedly, that's probably what you'll need to run Windows 7 at a reasonable speed.

Oi! That's fixed now.
Well, until the next time I get drunk and wantonly click random links anyway...
Not that I'd ever do that

Maybe, but it would need a large Nuclear Reactor to do so..

Well I worked out that 5120 Quad Core CPUs would be needed to make the 20480 Cores stated, and if you used the top end Xeons which run at 3.2GHz, they retail at about £800, even with a huge bulk discount, say, making them £500 each that would still be £2.56M just for the CPUs!

Re: Nasa's new computer is bigger than yours..
And of course, if 540 TB of storage wasn't enough, they could add some more.
HP have a new NAS system that can contain up to ten 82 TB boxes, and can be daisy chained with other HP NAS systems..
So, given a good few million dollars, NASA can add a few Petabytes (1 Petabyte is 1024 Terabytes) of storage to the system..

Probably really - really expensive, but don't worry, give it six month and they'll be in the shops for £299.99
