You did burn it as an image & not just copy the iso over?

(Sorry, had to ask... )

It sounds like it, if the OP can't explore the disk even.

Re: Microsoft finally stopped hackers?

The Vista DVD does copy okay. I have a backup of my copy in case something happens to the original, and this boots and installs fine.

Perhaps you have a bad image file?

Re: Microsoft finally stopped hackers?

Burn the ISO again, but at 2x, I've had many many issues burning Vista discs at anything above 2x... Some of the problems you described make it sound like the disc was written, but not quite how it should have been. Trying it in another machine may or may not show it as working, depends on how good at error correction the drive is.

Re: Microsoft finally stopped hackers?

Don't think it's anything to do with keys etc. I think it's more of a fundemental issues with your DVD / writer / image.

One of my DVD drives refuses point blank to boot from TDK DVDs yet they work perfectly in another drive.

Unless your using stupidly cheap sata leads (like the ones that come with motherboards, basically) then you wont get any problems what so ever with sata drives being mixed like that.
