Monitor screen moves from side to side

Hi everyone,

Wondered if anyone had an idea what could be causing my screen to slightly move and judder on each side of the screen.

It's a CRT monitor, has only just started doing it this week.
There are no mobile phones, radios, speakers, or anything that could be causing inteference nearby.

Randomely it just shakes from either side of the screen, a bit like if it was doing a degauss but more moving in and back out. Happens very quickly.

System is clean, no viruses or spyware.

All leads are connected fine. Graphics drivers have not been changed or anything removed.

Any ideas ?

I'd try a different lead, just to be sure - get some strange results with a dodgy cable

Thanks, I'll give that a go.

It's just the monitor and cables havent been moved at all. Seems weird.

Monitor is hopefully not on it's way out as I've only had it a couple of years.

mine did this when it was about to die . Hope its just the cable

I had something similar with an old CRT monitor here at work - turned out it was caused by the microwave on the otherside of the wall.

Thanks ! I guess I should start looking for a new one.
I'm hoping it will survive as picture is great on this old CRT.

I'm going to double check all connections again later today.

The only time I had this (when I still used crt's) was because someone had plugged a desktop fan into the same extension leads as the monitor.

The only thing I can think of right now is that I've recently changed the standard 4 socket extension I had for a Belkin Surge protected one.
I doubt it is that as for the past 2 weeks it's been working fine on this new surge protector.

Have you tried swapping it back? Could be the filters in the surge protector
