It's only important if you need to run an app that uses it.

Re: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0: x86

I had same problem, was some kind of error with the windows installer, used the cleanup utility in this article and it worked fine after that.

Re: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0: x86

Gonna sound stoopid, but have you installed frameworks 1.0 and 2.0 and all the service packs/patches prior to 3.0?

Re: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0: x86

No you don't need to, version 1 is independent to the rest and can run parallel, version 3 should also cover version 2.

The latest is version 3.5.

I would check if you have all the critical updates and service packs including any relating to windows installer.

Re: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0: x86

Strange. I know I couldn't install them out of order, I kept getting error messages and 'failed' messages. Starting from scratch and installing them one after the other cleared it all up and I didn't have any problems.....

Re: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0: x86

I've got .Net framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 on my PC yikes LOL. No problem with any of them, but I didn't get them all from Windows Update (maybe 1.0 & 1.1 and 3.0). I got the others by installing Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 (Express Editions).
