Re: Windows Home Server Help Needed!

sorry cant be much help but...can you use remote desktop to access the WHS machine? As it looks like a ASP.net error in the webpage (maybe misconfiguration or something).

If you can remote desktop to the server then you can run the same remote access app on it locally and view the actual error message - then maybe the MS knowledge base might be a help?

Re: Windows Home Server Help Needed!

You do have ports 80 and 443 open?

Are websites on in the console?

Re: Windows Home Server Help Needed!

Yes, nffc's advice was correct. Happy it worked for you. If someone else, however, ends up on this post with a different problem that gives messages that look similar take a look at this:
http://whswebsite.googlepages.com/

It is a cpmplete set of instructions concerning (more complex) websites on WHS. The reason I mention it is Part 5 is the Trouble Shooting section and the guide has screenshots like what you posted.

BTW, this guide is how to turn up an ASP.NET Website on your Windows Home Server.

The Trouble Shooting section, however, might help others as well.

Re: Windows Home Server Help Needed!

Thank you.

Hope it helps somebody.

That link I posted is really a pretty good resource. I ran into it a couple days ago. Apparently two guys decided to figure out how to deploy an ASP.NET Website on their Windows Home Servers. They started with the Whiist Add-In (the one that won the prize.) They found a bunch of free Microsoft "Express" software. And then they explored their way through it. You don't even have to write any code. They admit thay don't know how to. They use downloaded Starter Kits (also free)

They say that there was not much help out there and what there was was over their heads. So anyway they wrote this gude that is pretty good and quite easy to follow. My only complaint is it is not indexed. But I guess you can't ask for everything when it is free.

I am going to give it a try

Re: Windows Home Server Help Needed!

So what if you already have ASP code... I'm fluent in it (C# CB).
