mplayer using command line in Windows

Hi
Do any of you guys know how to use mplayer from the command line using Windows.

I have an mplayer command that I use with Linux. I'd like to know if it runs OK in Windows, or whether it needs altering.

Nothing, I'm a VLC fanboy.
But it's not suitable for the job I want to do.

Re: mplayer using command line in Windows

Ah well...

Are you trying to launch mplayer from some sort of media centre like media portal, media centre, gb-pvr or something ?

If so when you find out can you let the rest of us know too

This is the command:-

mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile bobharris.ra -bandwidth 999999999999 -ao null rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio2/bobharris.ra

It should download a BBC radio programme into a file named 'bobharris.ra'.
The '-bandwidth 999999999999' tells it to do it fast.
And '-ao null' means don't play it through the speakers (I think).

Re: mplayer using command line in Windows

So have you tried that in Windows using mplayer.exe in place of mplayer?

Re: mplayer using command line in Windows

Ummm, well when you get access to a Windows PC try that. AFAIK mplayer command line options in Windows are the same as Linux, except you have to call mplayer.exe instead of mplayer...

That's smashing, thanks.
It's a 3 hour radio show.
How long did it take you to do the download (approx)?
What's the size of the bobharris.ra file?

When I run the command with Ubuntu Linux it maxes my 2Mbps cable modem at around 250KB/s.
