Need to 'Undelete' from a NAS Device
Hey Guys,
Just did a stupid thing and wiped out my wallpaper collection while I was moving things around on my new NAS.
Does anybody know of a file recover app that will recover deleted files from a NAS? All of the free ones I've tried seem limited to local drives only
Thanks.

Can you not make the drive local?

Re: Need to 'Undelete' from a NAS Device
Well, I could remove the HDD from the NAS and install it in the desktop machine if that's what you mean?
I'd like to try to avoid that if at all possible. Frankly the wallpapers that were on there simply aren't worth that amount of messing around.....

Re: Need to 'Undelete' from a NAS Device
Thanks for that, but despite what it 'says on the tin' it won't recover from network drives.
They have a portable version though (just a single .exe) so that will go nicely on my USB stick for those random emergencies that crop up.
Thanks again

Re: Need to 'Undelete' from a NAS Device
Sorry about that. I'm sure it was able to read my network drives the last time I tried it, but as you say it doesn't see them now. Puzzled.

Grrrrr !!!! Stop bloody underlining stuff! Underlining is used for linking to a URL!
Use bold or italics...or both!!

Shouldn't be a need. As a good web warrior you'll be hovering over the lins first to make sure they don't go anywhere dodgy won't you? At that point you'll see that it isn't a link.
If that's not easy enough for you then I'm sure you will find that your web browser has the option to allow you to change the colour of hyperlinks so that they are obviously different from underlined text.
And.....no.....there was no backup, the images had been transferred to the drive from a USB pen which was then cleared and used to transfer other files. They'd been on there less than 5 minutes at the point they were deleted. They were also fairly trivial images in terms of their value, therefore the effort expended in creating backups that quickly would not have been in proportion to the value of the images, I have no replaced them so the matter's closed (other than for anybody else with similar issues of course).
Perhaps a passing Mod would like to close this thread if they get a minute? Thanks.
