Thinking of going back to XP
Had Vista Home Premium on my new PC for 2 months now, okay it looks nice and the media centre stuff to the xbox 360 is good. I have 4gig of ram but even with that it does not perform any better than XP.
Though is there anyway to import Windows Mail emails back to OUtlook express.

Re: Thinking of going back to XP
What does not work? What needs to perform better? Although you might not see a more speedy computer Vista's pre-fetching would work wonders on 4gb of ram. You should be noticing commonly used apps opening faster?
Its also more secure and reliable, Unless your actually experiencing problems then I would not recommend moving back to XP. Especially with SP1 due soon.

4G?????
We have less than that between 3 desktops and a laptop for god`s sake!!
These do all run exceptionally well mind you.
Vista lasted all of two months in this house before it ....and it`s big clumsy cd case was unceremoniously dumped in the outside cupboard with the rest of my pc junk.
Why not dualboot both XP & Vista then do some proper testing if your up to squeezing every last bit of oomph out of the things??
At least then you`d have both until such time as you`d made you mind up.
Or you could always........na...shut up xpod

Damn - I was looking for a free copy of Fistula too! You know - so I can slag it off from a position of experience rather than just smug self-satisfied prejudice like I do now...

Re: Thinking of going back to XP
Im using Windows Vista right now, Windows Vista Business, only difference between Home Premium and Business is, Business doesn't have the media center, and it has extra security features.
Now that i've got it working the way i want, its great, i love it!

I`ve got better things to do with the 15G of space(like leave it empty) and the 300Mb or RAM it uses before you even touch a mouse.
I only even accepted the thing myself so i could check out "what might have been"
I love the The System Assessment Tool that happily tells everyone how unworthy their hardware is, thereby convincing you to rush out and spend even more money on "capable" hardware just to get a better score...
And to have it function to it`s fool potential of course......ahem
Great marketing ploy that was eh

Re: Thinking of going back to XP
Hang on for a few more weeks and hopefully Microsoft will release the performance and reliability packs - see if that improves the performance...

Re: Thinking of going back to XP
64bit. I'll see how this SP1 goes when its released. Copy files from hard drive to hard drive seems to take ages with Vista but with XP it was very fast.

You might be interested in this. It looks like there's a fix for the slow file copy problem.
