mobile phone sd card

i know if you plug in a usb cable you have to have to double click the safely remove thing to safely remove, but i have an sd card from my mobile to put in the side of the laptop and wondered how i can tell when its safe to remove it? thanks from jane

you only have to remove a usb cable safely if you have enabled write catching on the usb drive which helps the drive perform faster its the same with the sd card aswell

That isnt strictly correct. Just pulling the device whilst reading from or writing to can corrupt the data on there whether caching is enabled or not.Safely removing hardware allows any writing or accessing of the device to cease before removal
