What the hell is vista doing when I drag and drop from a to b ? a virus check ?

What the heck is the " preparing to copy **** " ?

Just transfer the files please and QUICKLY GRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
not sure if it works over a network but

Love the fact if a single file fails it doesn't abort the whole copy operation

Re: Vista file transfers damn slow

I find transferring files from a CF/SD card to be really CPU intensive and take blooming ages.

I find that transfers to memory cards usually go quite quick.

I did find it was really slow to transfer music to my phone tho, but if i take the memory stick out and shove it in my card reader its really quick so it must be my w850 that's slow not the pc.

Re: Vista file transfers damn slow

CPU usage on one core goes sky high, I can use the computer still, but it does slow things down

Yes, Vista file operations over a network is truly horrendous.

So much for the 'complete rebuild of the networking stack'. Yes, rebuilt to a ****house.

Had the same problem with my inspiron 1501 and vista. Thought it was a hardware issue until I downgraded to XP and everything became fine.

Re: Vista file transfers damn slow

For me the built in ZIP function crawls on my system in Vista Ultimate, tried to unzip the latest VIA drivers and it was unzipping around 16 BYTES/Second on a 2.2Ghz Athlon + 1Gb RAM!!!

Installed Winzip 11/WinRAR 3.70 and both unzipped in seconds?

wow that quick?

Personally I find windows built in zip support a pain, espically if the zip came from somone over msn and windows decides to "block potentially harmfull files"

Prefer winrar myself.
