Excel - Printing invoice types

Hi Ya, the title does not make much sense, but please let me explain.

I am using MS Excel, and have created an invoice.
I now need it to do some things for me.
Firstly, I need it to automatically create an Invoice number for me, so that when it shuts down and reopens, it will automatically pick up from where it left off.
Then After that, Need it to print two copies each, with the same invoice number.
Once that is done it will save it with the invoice nummber.

Can this be done in Excel (if so how?)?
Or would I be better paying for some program that will do this?

Any helo would be appreciated.

Re: Excel - Printing invoice types

You would probably be better off paying for some software.
Simply Books for example is about as simple as an accounting package gets
http://www.simplybooks.net/
The current version does invoicing and you can put in line details on the invoice (e.g. 1 Widget @ 50)
Also it allows statements and ageing of invoices.

If you are invoicing then you are probably incurring expenses in relation to these invoices and should have a separate business bank account for the sake of clarity and all of this can be consolidated together and presented to an accountant to deal with the other fun parts at the year end.

You can download a 3 month trial copy

Re: Excel - Printing invoice types

The printing process and save you may be able to automate with a macro.

The invoice numbering must surely come from some sort of database, or separate record sheet that identifies and adds to the last number used.

If you don't go for a bespoke programme, I wonder whether a large part, if not all of the data should be stored in a database such as access, and then you simply choose to print the invoice report of the chosen last invoice.

Re: Excel - Printing invoice types

There is a standard invoice template that does this with an excel database structure in the templates on excel. Depends if you installed them though.

File... > New... > General Templates > Spreadsheet Solutions > Sales Invoice
