RE: New laptop
Hi,
i asked my work for a laptop and they've given me a very nice one, except its in german (came from a salesman who was only working for us for a month or two).
So my questions are;
1. can i easily change it to english and will windows xp operate correctly, or will i get the occasional, "what does that mean".
2. Since i have the disks should i re-install the setup (its a dell by the way) and select english during the install, or will i not get that option.?
thanks

Re: New laptop
I imagine that it is a German version of XP, ie all menus in German. To change this, you would need a language pack which is not free. It is not as simple as selecting English as language instead of German - that applies to keyboard layout language.
Best to reinstal XP with an English version.

Re: New laptop
Err have you tried actually going into Regional Settings and changing the language to English first in Windows?

As I said in my earlier post, you will either have to buy the language pack or install an English language version of XP.

Re: New laptop
Is your work aware it's in the work language? Do they have an IT dept who can sort it for you?
