Excel Formula - Is this possible?

I have a long list of staff numbers. All are 6 digits followed by a letter.

If the whole staff number is in column A, is it possible to use a formula to put the digits without the letter in one column and the letter on its own in the next column?

Use Left and right

Off the top of my head....

=left(a1, 6) will get the first 6 digits and =right(a1, 1) will get the last digit.
