IE7, Roxio & how to seriously annoy your customers
I use Roxio EMC7 for video editing and, yesterday, I found that a critical part was refusing to work. I've just been searching on the Internet and I find that Version 7 of EMC will not work with IE7.
OK, such clashes are not unknown with new programs, so I go to the Roxio site to look for a fix and what do I find. Why, Roxio has simply washed its hands of the problem! I can either fork out a further large sum of money to obtain Version 9 or I can go back to IE6!
Roxio state straight out that a patch is unlikely to become available and the reason they give is that we are now 2 versions down the line from Version 7. What they don't say is that version 7 only went out of production 13 months ago. So we have a company that won't support its products when they are only a year out of date.
Version 7 is still perfectly usable - in fact if you go to the Roxio forum you will find many users who will swear by it over the more recent versions. What a bunch of money grubbers Roxio are. It's Nero for me next time.
And my decision? I've went back to IE6. IE7 didn't seem to have any real advantages over Firefox.
