IE7, Roxio & how to seriously annoy your customers

I use Roxio EMC7 for video editing and, yesterday, I found that a critical part was refusing to work. I've just been searching on the Internet and I find that Version 7 of EMC will not work with IE7.

OK, such clashes are not unknown with new programs, so I go to the Roxio site to look for a fix and what do I find. Why, Roxio has simply washed its hands of the problem! I can either fork out a further large sum of money to obtain Version 9 or I can go back to IE6!

Roxio state straight out that a patch is unlikely to become available and the reason they give is that we are now 2 versions down the line from Version 7. What they don't say is that version 7 only went out of production 13 months ago. So we have a company that won't support its products when they are only a year out of date.

Version 7 is still perfectly usable - in fact if you go to the Roxio forum you will find many users who will swear by it over the more recent versions. What a bunch of money grubbers Roxio are. It's Nero for me next time.

And my decision? I've went back to IE6. IE7 didn't seem to have any real advantages over Firefox.

Nice of Roxio to turn it's back on it's customers unless they upgrade. What happens to all the Roxio EMC7 users that have paid for their product and are now looking to upgrade to Vista??

I stopped using Easy CD Creator for the same reason, it was bought up by Roxio and they wouldn't support the pre-buy out versions. Nero is much better, but even that is beginning to suffer from bloat these days.
