Some of my movie files (mpegs) won't play anymore

And neither will some of my video clips.

I have WMP 11, Nero Showtime, Quicktime etc.

The message is lack of codecs.

I haven't changed my settings as far as I know.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
VLC all the way, no need for codecs or bloated media players, good for windows,MAC and *nix

Klite Codec pack is not bloated its MPclassic with all the codecs you will ever need.

www.filehippo.com has it

Re: Some of my movie files (mpegs) won't play anymore

Ah some confusion may have been made here Felinix_Devotion, by bloat I was talking of Media player my friend. So yes you are right the codecs are not bloat
Sorry for any confusion caused.

Re: Some of my movie files (mpegs) won't play anymore

Ok, the K-Lite pack has helped but not quite the way I would like it to have done.

WMP11, showtime etc. still won't play the problem files but the classic media player that k-lite either reinstalls or reactivates, will.

Ok, I can still watch the movies but it's not quite how I wanted it.

I've tried the obvious configuration changes but nothing seems to work.

It's like this with the same file types but no the same files at my girlfriend's and my work pc. Everything's fine at home with a clean SP2 install that has never been connected to the internet.

Thanks for any more help.

Re: Some of my movie files (mpegs) won't play anymore

There are some codecs WMP just will not play hence Klite uses mpclassic a older version of media player.

I personally use Klite video player for all my video files and Winamp right now for my mp3's and I just leave WMP for online videos only.

You could also try ffdshow - see if this makes a difference.
