Memory Card Freeze Phone

I have a Nokia 6280 phone with a 2GB memory card (Formatted)

I put the memory card in when the phone is turned off i turn it on and it says "Nokia" then the screen goes black and freezes but the keypad ligts are still on, i have to take the empty memory card out and then the phone will load up.

This has only started happening about 2 weeks after i bought the card.

I did have about 800MB of music, videos etc on the phone but i formatted it to see if the problem would go away and it didn't.

I restored factory settings on my mobile phone and still the problem is not going away.

My friend has a Sony Ericsson W800 with a 2GB memory (FULL) and his phone doesn't crash.

Does anyone know a way to fix this problem, PLEASE!!! its a waste of £100 then

Re: Memory Card Freeze Phone

Could it be faulty? If it is I would have thought it would have had a money back guarantee

Depends what one you get, like the Sony ones, or MiniSD or MicroSD etc...

Thank you guys!

I've just booked it in for a software upgrade, hopefully this will fix the problem, he said it should be ready by 5pm

Re: Memory Card Freeze Phone

Software upgrade done.

One problem fixed, phone doesn't freeze or crash when switching on with memory card in.

Still, i can't transfer stuff from PC to memory card, it just says "Unknown Error".

I can't open the gallery either with memory card inserted.

I can't format the memory card using the format memory card feature in the phone.

Any other way to format the memory card?

Re: Memory Card Freeze Phone

You can use the adaptor and put it in your PC, there is some free software available to help sort it, though you'd have to google cos i don't know what it is.

You should really take it to the Nokia Service Centre again- assuming that's what you did the first time, and tell them the new firmware is causing problems.

Re: Memory Card Freeze Phone

They insist that it is the memory card.

It might be, because the 64MB card works fine.

Its either the memory card, or the mobile phone cannot handle a 2GB empty card :S
