Re: A new icon has appeared on my desktop!

look in your add/ remove programs list for anything to do with the housecall scan tool but it is probably just a report file for the housecall scan that can be deleted from the desktop.

Re: A new icon has appeared on my desktop!

Thanks Paul for your help. There was nothing about 'Housecall' in the add/remove programs, so I am about to delete it from my desktop, since you think that is alright.

Re: A new icon has appeared on my desktop!

Just to convince yourself - before you delete it, right click on it and select 'properties'. It should be just a file - probably a text file. And you'll be able to see where it is.

If it is, then you can safely delete the shortcut on the desktop.

Which kinda begs the question: why on earth did you click on it?

Re: A new icon has appeared on my desktop!

Ok Altis point taken, slapped wrists for me, I have got a lot to learn!
Thanks for reminding me to be more wary.
There's no fool like an old fool! Judging by my new reputation, I gave away a LOT of personal information, perhaps the mods could delete the text for me, pretty please!

Re: A new icon has appeared on my desktop!

It's actually an error report. It's showing that an app, written in Java but calling a native Win32 app, had crashed. You've got the thread list, the process list and the stack trace.

Yep but it's been removed now Always an idea to check what info is in a logfile if you ever post one Twink. Anyway as far as I know housecall runs the process on your PC via a download and no data is transmitted back. Were you checking your PC for a reason?

Ok... so you all had a good laugh at my expense, please remember all of you clever clogs out there, not all of us have the IT savvy. You don't realise how much I worried about this, so much so, that I am now going to restrict my comments/questions/responses on this (my only) subscribed forum, what's that? ... who said hoorah? Whilst I appreciate some of you genuinely want to help, I can't help feeling I am being belittled/ talked down to by those who are more computer literate than I. I am sure I am not alone when I say this. Correct me if I am wrong. Don't all rush at once!
