cc.App
I'm running XP Pro (sp2) with NIS 2005
Today I can't access e-mails via Microsoft Outlook unless I turn off NIS.
Furthermore, when I try to shutdown/restart my PC I get a little grey box informing me that ccApp.exe needs to shutdown first and the the PC just hangs.
ccApp is part of NIS but I can't find a fix for this on the symantec site.
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: cc.App
ccApp is the email scanner isn't it, for NAV?
Never done that to me....Maybe try removing & then reinstalling Norton?
(& I'm sure some will say remove Norton & don't put it back! )

Rather try fixing it than a complete reinstall....
btw.......If I stop NIS and then shut down then the PC doesn't hang
..........and Norton is streets ahead of Mcafee

Re: cc.App
Just found this...
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...rc=bar_sch_nam
May be worth a try...
(although probably not if your Norton is already up to date)

Re: cc.App
Googling found a few forums with various people having similar problems....None seemed to find a fix other than a complete uninstall & reinstall

The "ccapp has to end" bit used to happen with me, but it did eventually shut down.
Reinstalling it, does seem to be the fix-all with norton.
Now, you could always try...

Thats what I found apart from this:
Quote:
This is happening because your Windows is shutting down fast but the your application ccapp.exe does not respond to the shutdown command fast.
You can try to use the freeware Quick ShutDown (QSD) utility from http://www.winutility.com/qsd/
QSD can automatically terminate applications if they are not responding making shutdowns both quicker and safer.
Or you can use try to adjust the value using Registry Editor (REGEDIT):
Start>Run then type REGEDIT
Hit OK
Locate HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop at the left pane then select it. Locate AutoEndTasks at the right pane and change the value to 1
Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l at the left pane then select it. Locate WaitToKillServiceTimeout then change the value to 1000
|
Does this sound feasable....and does anyone have any comments about the 'fix' suggested?

Re: cc.App
Sounds familiar. Sorry Rammy think you're on to a re-install. If so, fingers crossed for you that the uninstall works cos another problem with NIS is......
I had to renstall a couple of weeks back and this involved downloading SymNRT.exe from the Symantec site to ensure all traces were removed of the pre-existing install (still better than when I upgraded last year and got hacked off with Symantec's useless London support and in the end pleaded via online support for some guy in India to phone - even though it wasn't a call centre - so he could take me through manually removing stuff from my register ).)
Good luck with it.

Re: cc.App
Why not try Avast?
It's free and runs on 32-bit & 64-bit.
