I dunno most of the thread is legit....

I have 2 keys at work each that allows 5 installs.

However MS state that the 2-5 install must be activated over the phone.

I never worked out how they sort this sort of thing out as I have activated my home XP multiple times (I strip I down to a fresh install for LANS etc).
So as i understand it, for 1 install of XP you can just activate overt the internet or phone?

Must be missing something here, Windows doesn't need re-activating for EVERY hardware change
Oh just as an aside:
MS to change tactics with Windows Piracy
Just how long before someone figures a work around is the next question.

Re the aside what a I am.

If only I read here before downloading windows updates grrrrrr..

After escaping the last bout of WGA and having trixie enabled Windows Updates snuck in with me noticing and on reboot got a nice splash screen telling me non legit version.

Plus a nice system tray icon as well which when clicked shows the options in the below attachment.

Looks like I will have to invest as it looks like it cannot be removed.

You could try unchecking "show windows genuine advantage notifications messages"?

Why don't you use this site for any windows critical and security downloads.
http://www.softwarepatch.com/index.html It bypasses any validation.

Yes it can, already, I don't even know why MS bother as the day after they change the WGA scheme somebody figures out how to get around it like they have done this time.

Re: MS turns on WGA

Many thanks one and all for the helpful suggestions.

But a big to zinglebarb.

You have just saved me £70 plus for my second PC.

As if you roll back XP to a previous restore point then problem solved.

Simple from there just choose custom install and ignore the WGA update.

Re: MS turns on WGA

That'll explain the WgaLogon.dll file I suddenly have on my PC. Well, this copy is legit anyway - otherwise I'd be having serious words with PC World. Serious words that begin with a baseball bat round their heads.

Nice to know that there are always a way around MS.... wonder how long before they close that little loophole though
