Clock speeds help required

Right I know first and foremost I expect a flaming for my MSI NEO 2 mobo but its what was available at the time
CPU 3800 xp64 newcastle core

Right the question is if i run 4 sticks of 512 double sided ddr400 ram the mobo runs it at 333 mhz Dual channel obviously losing a certain amount of bandwidth
However this allows me to clock my cpu gaining bandwidth from a higher fsb. This obviously pushes up the ram speeds and allows me to keep the 2.5 latency rating (but not upto ddr400)
I can run 2 x 512 double and 2 x 256 single sided dual channel ddr400 at full speed but no overclocked cpu
Which way is best ???

EDIT I am running xp64 that loves more ram

I know at least one person who will tell me to replace mobo but if and when I do this I will go dual core so its a massive upgrade (cpu mobo and gfx)

Hmm I would say the first way, but you don't say what speed you can get your RAM to. You have to take account of the increased ram speed form overclocking and the few percent performance gain you will get from running in dual channel mode.

Re: Clock speeds help required

So far Im not pushing it Ive upped the fsb to 210 gaining 120mhz + cpu speed and giving ram speed of 176mhz I know I can push the fsb another 5 mhz but it crashed at 220 before but that was the ram so there is a chance I can reach this.
Cpu temp unaffected at 210 mhz

Now an interesting thing has occured. At boot when mem speeds show at post it says 176 mhz. In windows Everest shows the Rams real clock 168 mhz. I wondering if the mobos 333 limit with 4 double sided populated ram slots has created a devider stopping Ram clocking at all. This would be very interesting as my Ram can run Cas 2 at 333mhz and will create no block on a cpu overclock
