Unhappy NTL port query?

since the likes of the blaster virus etc I have been keeping a much more watch on the ports and security on my pc.

I also included some more security software to be exta safe as the tech line wont speak to you if youve got the balster etc virus, (which is fair enough). Also this gives me the ability of seeing whats going on in my pc, before i didnt used to care just let it do what it needs to do.

However recently I have noticed what i can only describe as attacks (maybe im wrong) from
81.97.142.39 - NTL Network Management Centre part3

does anyone know what this is? and do need to be concerened about this?

addition - I dont use any peer to peer software, purley on line gaming, emails and net browsing, uploading and downloading web pages.

thanks for your time

I'm probably (read definitely) not the one to answer your question, but what makes you think they are attacks? What ports are being targeted? Are these ports known to be associated with worms/trojans etc?

It might be legitimate traffic. I.e. ntl checking you're still connected. (Just guessing here, but I assume they will need to communicate with the CM occasionally).

hi darkangel; danielf

perhaps the word attack is wrongly used - for that i appolgise.

this has happend at least 5 times at random today, i have pasted the data straight from the log as it states - i have overlooked the option of someone claiming to be the ntl network managment center (but cant see why)

hope this helps.

No, that's what the block of IPs are registered as.
If you do a traceroute, it will either lead to a UBR or a customers cable modem.
