multi tasking - playing a film on tv from computer while computer in use

i have a video card that has a yellow rca output. i have a lead that links this to the tv. i also link sound from computer into hifi.

i am able by using the option "extend my desktop onto this monitor" to drag a film window from the pc monitor onto my tv screen.

I want a program where i can just open a video on the pc and it automatically gets display on the other monitor ( the tv screen) and it doesnt intefere with the use of the pc

any ideas anyone

thanks

william

How are you opening video now? If you are using Media Player etc can't you just drag that into the second display position and let it run there? Is there any way to set the tv as primary display so that the video opens in that window by default?
What video card is it that you are using by the way?

i open the video in media player/real one player/nero showtime/divx subtitle displayer and then i drag the movie onto the tv screen. i can set the player as full screen BUT it is impossible to set it full screen and for someone to use the computer at the same time because u can only have one active window at a time.

id love a video software player that i could tell it to output the video to the monitor exclusively. no having to mess abt dragging a window.

What gfx is it? look for an overlay control then select theater mode

This is available in the ati and nvidia control panels and it over rides the tv output making it play full screen, dragging over onto an extended desktop is the way to be avoided
The above method allows full screen movie on tv and plays on the pc through media player or equivilent

Ok seen your card,in advanced settings select overlay
click theater mode select same as source the output to either 16 by 9 or 4 by 3 screen size

gfx? does gfx mean graphics card??? i have an ati radeon 9550

i found the overlay control, as u said, display properties, advanced, overlay, but the options are greyed out in the clone mode options. this is where it has theatre mode
[see screenshots attached]

i see that divx player supports multiple monitors but cant seem to find out how to use this feature.

im using ultramon. not a bad program but the theatre mode overlay option you suggest sounds better if i could only just work it out.
