Athlon XP 2400

OK guys, some advice needed.

I would like to purchase this CPU as a retail box inc heatsink and fan, as an upgrade from my 1Ghz AMD duron.

1/ Is it a good choice?
2/ £67 for the retail box, is that a good price?
3/ I have an ECS K7S5A motherboard the Bios date indicates that it should support this chip, any further info would be gratefully received.

Maelstrom is an unknown quantity at this point
The 2400 gets quite a lot of praise, as a good 'bang per buck' buy, only rivalled by the 2500 (but I don't think your board would support this FSB333 chip).
That seems to be one of the best prices around at the moment (ebuyer I guess?).
I think your board only supports the athlon chips up to the 266FSB 'thoroughbred' core, making the 2400 the highest it will go - although I'm prepared to be wrong about this

i bought one myself £55 as you can see, incl heatsink & fan from AMD. It is pretty quiet.
